The Fresno 15 project

The Fresno 15 Creative Writing Marathon was an online publishing project organized by the Fresno State Creative Writing Alumni Chapter.

The Fresno 15 project featured award-winning Fresno writers in a creative writing challenge and fundraiser to benefit Fresno State’s Larry Levis Memorial Scholarship in Creative Writing. Volunteer authors ran a “literary marathon,” writing 15 pieces in 15 days, while the rest of us “sponsored” and encouraged them as they wrote.

From 2019-2023, the campaign raised $26,238 from 159 donors, exceeding the crowdfunding project’s goal. Earnings from the endowed scholarship with the Fresno State Alumni Association will now provide an annual award, in perpetuity, to a graduate student in the university’s Master of Fine Arts program in creative writing.
